INVITATION TO BID - RIVERFRONT BRIDGES

The City of Newport is accepting Sealed Bids for the construction and installation of two bridges; one extending from the Newport flood levee to the eastern side of the Taylor Southgate Bridge, and one extending from the Newport flood levee to the western side of the Taylor Southgate Bridge.  General site work includes demolition of existing concrete, asphalt and existing lighting, erosion control, and miscellaneous fencing, amenities, lighting and pavement installation. Work for the West Bridge includes earthwork, fabrication and installation of truss bridge and associated bridge deck, construction of retaining walls and other modifications.  Work for the East Bridge includes structure excavation, fabrication and installation of truss bridge and associated bridge deck, piering and footing construction and other modifications.  In addition to the required Bid List, a schedule and fee proposal for Construction Inspection Services and Geotechnical Inspection Services are to be included in this response.   All work must be completed in conformance with USACE and KYTC approved designs. A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at 2:00pm on May 21, 2019 at City of Newport City Hall Commission Chambers, 998 Monmouth Street, Newport Kentucky, 41071. RESULTS OF RECENT BIDS

Two bids were received and opened June 7, 2019 for the Riverfront Commons Pedestrian Bridges project. No action is anticipated until June 17 at the earliest. Sunesis is the apparent low bidder.

Bids were received and opened publicly on April 17, 2019 for Veterans Pool Resurfacing Project. Bids were received from three vendors. Preliminary results may be viewed here. Awarded to Paul Michels and Sons April 22, 2019.

Bids were received and opened publicly on April 19, 2019 for 2019 Dodge Charger Police Pursuit Vehicles. Bids were received from three vendors. Preliminary results may be viewed here. Awarded to Jeff Wyler of Fort Thomas April 22, 2019.

Bids were received and opened publicly on April 5, 2019 for Annual Supplies. Bids were received from nine vendors. Preliminary results may be viewed here. No action is anticipated to award contracts before the meeting on April 22 at the earliest.

Bids were received and opened publicly on April 5, 2019 for Street Resurfacing Bid Package One. Bids were received from two contractors. Preliminary results may be viewed here. No action is anticipated to award contracts before the meeting on April 22 at the earliest.

Proposals/Statements of Qualifications for Engineering and Design Services for the Phase I US 27 / South Monmouth and Phase II US 27 / Monmouth Underpass Improvement projects were received and publicly opened on March 1, 2019. Submissions are under review. No action is anticipated until March 25, 2019 at the earliest. 

Bids were received and opened publicly on March 4, 2019 for Fire Department Vehicle Exhaust System. Two bids were received. Preliminary results may be viewed here. The contract was awarded to Rossman Enterprises Inc., d/b/a Clean Air Concepts.  

Bids were received and opened publicly on February 8, 2019 for Turf Maintenance for 2019. Two bids were received. Preliminary and tabulated results may be viewed here. The contract was awarded to Team Turf LLC d/b/a Team All Sports.

Bids were received and opened publicly on February 8, 2019 for Grass Cutting and Maintenance for 2019. Four bids were received. Preliminary and tabulated results may be viewed here. The contract was awarded to Professional Lawn Care, Inc.

Bids were received and opened publicly on December 7, 2018 for "Ninth Street Catch Basin Project". Four bids were received, at the December 17, 2018 meeting of the Board of Commissioners the project was awarded to low bidder, TMS Construction. Preliminary results may be viewed here.

Bids were received and opened publicly on October 11, 2018 for "Landfill Cap Repair". One bid was received, the project was awarded to Bray Construction.

Bids were received and opened publicly on September 17, 2018 for "2018 Street Re-Surfacing Bid Package 1". Summary of the bids is available here. At the September 17 meeting of the Board of Commissioners the award of the project contracts was approved as follows: Line Items 1-5 by Dec. 31, 2018 and Line Item 7 by June 30, 2019 to Eaton Asphalt; Line Item 6 by June 30, 2019 to TMS Construction.

Bids were received and opened publicly on August 8, 2018 for the Monmouth Street Stamped Concrete Pavement / Paver Replacement project. Summary of the bids is available here. On August 20, 2018 by action of the Newport Board of Commissioners the project was awarded to TMS Construction. 

Bids were received and opened publicly on May 15 for Annual Supplies for the Community Services Department. Preliminary results are available here. Action to award bids is anticipated at the 5/21/18 meeting of the Board of Commissioners. 

Bids were received and opened publicly on January 16 for the “City Parking Lot LED Light Fixture Replacement” and “City Parking Lot LED Light Fixture Replacement” projects. Three bids were received for each. Preliminary results for lighting are available here and for painting here. The project was awarded to the low bidder, Seco Electric. 

Bids were accepted through December 22, 2017 for the “Surplus Property, Lots 3-7 and part of Lot 2 of Garrett Dunn’s Subdivision of Summer Hill”, one bid was received. 

Bids were opened on December 15, 2017 for the Monmouth Street Stamped Concrete and Paver Replacement project. Five bids were received. Preliminary results are available here. No action has is anticipated before the next regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners on January 22, 2018 at the earliest.

Bids were opened on October 26, 2017 for Fire Department Roofs. Two bids were received. Preliminary results are available here. Update: No action has been taken as of January 16, 2018, no action is anticipated before the next regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners on January 22, 2018.

Proposals were due on October 19, 2017 for Cleaning Services. One proposal was recieved. At the November 20, 2017 meeting of the Board of Commissers a contract with Regal Maid was approved.

Bids were received on October 12, 2017 for two vehicles for the Police Department. Three bids were received. The low bid was submitted by Jeff Wyler Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Fort Thomas. By Order of the Board of Commissioners on October 16, 2017, a purchase order for Jeff Wyler was authorized. 

Bids were received on July 31, 2017 for Street Resurfacing/Reconstruction "Bid Package No. 2" (portions of Thornton, Hodge, Lindsey, and Dayton Streets). Bids are being reviewed by the engineer and a recommendation is pending. At the regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners on August 21, 2017 the project was awarded to Len Riegler of Florence. Bids were received on June 23, 2017 for Street Resurfacing/Reconstruction "Bid Package No. 1". Three bids were received. On July 24, 2017 the Board of Commissioners awarded the project to low bidder Len Riegler of Florence. An RFQ was published on June 29, 2017 in the Campbell County Recorder and on the city website seeking proposals from qualified consultants for funding application preparation, environmental assessment, and project management services for projects to be assisted with Community Development Block Grant funds from the Kentucky Department for Local Government. This assignment will include provision of these services for possible new applications as well as management services for projects funded with CDBG program income. Information was distributed to three parties that inquired, proposals were due July 10, 2017, one proposal was received. On July 24, 2017 the Board of Commissioners adopted an Order selecting Atkins-Elrod and Associates as the City's CDBG Administrator/Cunsultant for the City's CDBG Program for current and potential projects. Selection is subject to approval of the Kentucky Department for Local Government.  For more information please follow our open records request procedure.

Two requests for bids were published on the City website beginning on May 25 and in the Campbell County Recorder on June 1, 2017 for the Monmouth Street Streetscape Imrpovements Projects "LED Lighting Replacements" and "Painting". Bids were received and opened on June 14, 2017. Two bids were received for each project.

A request for sealed bids for annual supplies was published, bids were received and opened on May 15. A summary of bids received is available here. A request for sealed bids for concrete curb and gutter and brick paver sidewalk sections on Watch Hill Lane and Watch Pointe Lane was published, bids were recieved and opened on May 5, 2017. Three bids were received with TMS Construction submitting the apparent low bid at $53,432.50. (Two other bids were recieved, Michels at $105,247 and Len Riegler at $59,228.25.) The proposals are under review. Final approval and award of the project to TMS was given at the July 24, 2017meeting of the Board of Commissioners.  For more information please follow our open records request procedure

Sealed bid proposals for Solid Waste Collection and Recycling Services were due April 10, 2017. One bid was received from Rumpke. At a special meeting on May 8 the Newport Board of Commissioners adopted an ordinance awarding the franchise to Rumpke and selecting Option A which calls for trash and recycling collection once a week on the same day. For more information please follow our open records request procedure

 Bids were received March 22, 2017 for Slope Stabilization, Drilled Shaft Retaining Wall, Grandview Ave. Two bids were received, the apparent low bid was from Smith Construction ($454,809.00). Approval of the contract was granted by unanimous vote of the Newport Board of Commissioners at the meeting on March 27, 2017. For more information please follow our open records request procedure

Bids were received March 20, 2017 for Pole Mounted LED Lighting for Veterans Memorial Pool. Two bids were received, the apparent low bid was Atkins and Stang ($39.925.00). Award and approval of the contract was granted  by unanimous vote of the Newport Board of Commissioners at the meeting on March 27, 2017. For more information please follow our open records request procedure

Bids were received February 7, 2017 for the Riverfront Commons Project - Cities of Ludlow, Covington, Newport and Bellevue. Two bids were received. Following tabulation and review of the bids the Newport Board of Commissioners on February 27, 2017 approved a reimbursement agreement for the City's local match portion of the Riverfront Commons SNK Grant with the project being awarded to Sunesis. This must also be acted upon by the City of Covington. 

Bids were opened on September 23, 2016 for Signal Pole Replacement. Two bids were received. For preliminary results and apparent low bid, click here. For the bid tabulation, click here. The Board of Commissioners voted on October 3 to award the project to Davis H. Elliott Construction, Inc.

An RFQ for Engineering Services for the Carothers Road Profile Improvement Project was posted to the City website from July 22 through August 29 and was advertised in the Campbell County Recorder on August 4 and 11, 2016. The submission deadline was 8/26/16. Three firms responded. Following review and recommendation by Development Services Director J. Gregory Tulley, by vote of the Newport Board of Commissioners at their regular meeting on September 26, 2016, the contract has been awarded to TEC Engineering.

Bids were opened on August 29, 2016 for Bid Package 4, a street resurfacing and reconstruction project on Wilson Road, Loraine Court, Riddle Place, Laycock Lane, and Mayo Avenue. Update: due to scheduling conflicts, the low bidder was not able to accept the contract and the project has now been awarded to Eaton Asphalt following a vote of the Newport Board of Commissioners on September 26, 2016. 

Bids were opened for Police Pursuit Vehicles on August 18, 2016. Three bids were received and tabulated by the City Clerk. For preliminary results and apparent low bid information, click here. By vote of the Newport Board of Commissioners on August 22, 2016, the bid was awarded to Jeff Wyler.  

Bids were opened on June 30, 2016 for Bid Projects 1, 2, and 3 - three separate projects for street resurfacing and associated work. Bids were tabulated by the engineer. For preliminary results and apparent low bid information, click here. By vote of the Newport Board of Commissioners on July 25, 2016, Bid Packages 2 and 3 were awarded to Len Riegler Blacktop, Inc. No action has been taken with regard to Bid Package 1.

Bids were opened on June 10, 2016 for Repairs to Barrel Vault Masonry Structure and Bridge Abutments South Approach to L&N Bridge (Purple People Bridge) project. One bid was received. The Newport Board of Commissioners approved awarding the project to Hummel Industries, Inc. on July 8, 2016.
